Everything You Need to Know About the Workout Dress Trend
I am sure we are all hoping for the same thing…the weather to get consistently nicer! Summer fashion is something I look forward to all year! One of the biggest trends I am seeing this season is the workout dress trend. In this blog I will give you all the deets on the workout dresses I have found - everything from pros + cons to how to style them a few different ways! Lets get started…
The first dress is the incredibly popular ‘Traveler Mini Dress’
A few things before I get into the pros + cons… This one is one of the more form fitting of the dresses i’m reviewing. If in-between sizes I would go up. I am a size 6 and am in a size medium. I did try the small but it was just too tight around the mid section! It is also a mid-higher price point at $69
PROS
~ There are a ton of color options to choose from!
~ It comes in petite + long lengths
~ There are built in shorts with a pocket on one side
~ Comes in two styles - a spaghetti strap and a one shoulder
~ There are also adjustable straps
CONS
~ It is a interesting fabric - not soft and not super stretchy but still comfortable
~ There is no built in bra (there is a double layer but no added support)
~ With the benefit of added shorts it also comes with the issue of using the bathroom… (you kinda know what you are signing up for though)
~ It is a higher price point
Overall I like this dress and would recommend it! | Some ways to style are pictured below (:
The next dress I have for you ladies is the Old Navy ‘Powersoft performance swing dress’
This is a great option for a more affordable workout dress! I would recommend this one to the ladies that are just trying to dip their toes into this trend! This one comes at $40-$45 and usually has an extra discount on top of that! It is true to size I would say - I am in a size small for reference. It is in-between fitted and drappy for the perfect fit in my opinion! Also, if you are an expecting mama this is the best option for you! With no bike shorts sewn in, this makes using the restroom easy and no uncomfortable compression on your tummy!
PROS
~ Built in bra!
~ Comfortable fabric
~ Comes in petite - tall lengths
~ Lower price point
~ Easiest to use the bathroom with no bike shorts inside (can always add your own)
~ Adjustable straps
~ Fun pattern options
CONS
~ No bike shorts attached (this can also be a pro for some)
This dress is a great option! I will be wearing it all summer for sure - check below for some styling options!
Another great option is the Madewell Dress - ‘MWL Fit Flex Dress’
This dress might be my favorite option. It is made with incredibly comfortable fabric which makes it great for running errands, hanging out, or a casual outing! I would say this dress mostly runs true to size but if you are in-between I would suggest sizing down. I am in the size small for reference!
PROS
~ Incredibly comfortable
~ Built in shorts (a pro + and con)
~ Flattering material
~ Comes in xxsmall - xxlarge
~ Double layered
CONS
~ no built in bra for added support…not that I need any (; but some ladies do!
~ Bathroom issue…but again you know what you are signing up for
~ No adjustable straps (I do not find this to be an issue but can be for some!)
~ Highest price point at $88
This dress is another favorite of mine! I have already worn it a few times so I know I will get great use out of it! See below for style inspo!
